KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MoHUD) has approved detailed plans for the construction of migrant townships in central Uruzgan and eastern Nangarhar provinces.
According to the plans, 1,740 residential plots will be allocated to returnees and displaced families in Uruzgan, while 500 plots will be distributed in Nangarhar.
In a post on its X, MoHUD announced that Minister Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani had approved the detailed designs for both projects.
The ministry said the Uruzgan migrant township will cover 1,192.5 acres of land and will be developed according to modern urban standards.
The township will include 1,740 residential plots, aimed at providing suitable housing for returning refugees and displaced families. All necessary urban facilities and services have been incorporated into the plan.
Similarly, the Nangarhar township will be built on 250 acres of land and will consist of 500 residential plots. The project design includes comprehensive urban infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water supply, educational institutions, and healthcare services.
MoHUD stated that these projects are part of broader efforts to address housing challenges faced by returnees and to ensure access to modern urban amenities.
Reaffirming its commitment to implementing the projects, the ministry said it continues to execute standard township construction programs for migrants in various provinces, with the goal of improving living conditions, expanding urban services, and promoting sustainable development.
