KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s acting ambassador in Tehran met with Iran’s Chabahar Free Zone CEO to discuss expanding trade, opening an Afghan commerce office in Chabahar, and creating a joint bank.
On its X platform, the Islamic Emirate’s embassy in Tehran said acting Ambassador Mawlawi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani met with Dr. Mohammad Saeed Arbab, CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the embassy, the two sides discussed long-term land allocation for Afghan investors and the completion of the Chabahar–Milak railway line.
It said: “The discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade relations, including opening a representative office of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Chabahar port and establishing a joint Afghan-Iranian bank to facilitate financial transfers. Both sides also emphasized issuing long-term residence permits to Afghan traders and addressing other related issues.”
