New Japanese ambassador pledges continued aid to Afghans

KABUL (Pajhwok): Japan’s newly appointed ambassador in Kabul Masamotu Kenichi has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

Kenichi met with Higher Education Minister Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem in his office, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) wrote on its X handle.

During the meeting, Nadeem welcomed the new ambassador and discussed various reconstruction projects and ways to strengthen the higher education sector in Afghanistan.

He also appreciated the successful mission of Japan’s former ambassador, Takayoshi, and expressed satisfaction with Japan’s positive policy toward Afghanistan, calling for the continuation of cooperation and support.

For his part, the Japanese ambassador extended condolences over the recent earthquake casualties in northern Afghanistan and briefed about Japan’s activities and humanitarian support in the country.

He welcomed the recent progress and development in Afghanistan and emphasised that Japan would continue its assistance and cooperation with the Afghan people.
