Iran, Turkey stress need to resolve Afghanistan-Pakistan tensions

KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the country’s foreign minister, in a conversation with his Turkish counterpart, discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

In a statement posted on its X, the ministry said Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, while appreciating Turkey’s efforts to help resolve tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, emphasized the need to expand consultations aimed at preserving regional peace and stability.

The statement reads: “While valuing the efforts undertaken to reduce tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi stressed the importance of expanding consultations to safeguard regional peace and stability, and expressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to assist in this regard.”

According to the statement, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also highlighted the interconnected nature of regional peace and stability and underscored the importance of collective efforts by all countries to maintain peace and stability in the region.
