HERAT (Pajhwok): A large public rally was held in western Herat province on Sunday to support the people of Gaza. The participants emphasized the Islamic Ummah’s role in backing Palestinian resistance and strengthening unity among Muslims.
Abdul Aziz Hafizi, an organizer, said the rally was aimed at highlighting the dimensions of the Gaza crisis and conveying the message of Palestinian resistance to the people of Afghanistan, particularly the youth.
He said awareness about the suffering and resistance of the people of Gaza must turn into practical action, and that the Islamic Ummah has a duty to keep the voice of oppressed Palestinians alive and heard and stand beside them.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Abdul Rauf Mokhles, a professor at Herat University, explained the issue of Palestine is not merely a political matter for Muslims but is rooted in deep religious and ideological beliefs.
He said ignoring Al-Quds means neglecting a fundamental responsibility of the Islamic community, and emphasized that support must move beyond emotion toward practical commitment.
The participants described the massive public turnout as a sign of strong solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza.
They said the presence of thousands shows that the people of Herat stand with Gaza and consider support for Palestine a moral, humanitarian, and faith-based duty.
