12 killed, 10 injured in Ecuador bus crash

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 12 people were killed and more than 10 others injured after a passenger bus overturned in the Simiatug area in central Ecuador, according to reports.

Reuters said the incident was confirmed by Ecuador’s National Risk Management Service in a social media announcement, noting that the crash occurred on Monday.

The bus was traveling on an interprovincial route between Simiatug and Ambato when it overturned. Initial reports indicate that 12 people died at the scene, while more than 10 others sustained injuries.

Authorities said the cause of the crash remains unclear, and an investigation is underway.
