KABUL (Pajhwok): The Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, emphasized the principled treatment of Afghan refugees in Turkey and said obtaining Turkish visas are crucial to prevent illegal migration.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said Kabir made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Cenk Ünal on the occasion of the ambassador’s farewell and completion of his mission in Kabul.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ünal expressed satisfaction with the cooperation he received from MoRR and thanked the Afghan people for their hospitality and support.
He said relations between Kabul and Istanbul had expanded during his tenure, with notable progress in trade, transit, public projects, and political engagement.
Ünal reaffirmed Turkey’s continued support for Afghanistan, noting that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has encouraged the international community to engage positively with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
He added that Turkey remains committed to assisting Afghans in economic development, healthcare, and other vital areas.
Kabir described Ünal’s diplomatic mission as important and beneficial in strengthening Turkey-Afghanistan relations and wished him success in his future endeavors.
He also praised Turkey and Qatar for their mediation efforts in talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan, calling Turkey an important partner in the Islamic world.
The minister reiterated the need for principled treatment of Afghan refugees in Turkey, underlining that proper visa procedures are essential to prevent illegal migration.
He thanked Turkey for its continued assistance to Afghans and expressed hope for closer future ties between Kabul and Istanbul.
