QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Security forces in western Badghis province have arrested two individuals on charges of illegal excavation and searching for ancient monuments in Bala Murghab district, officials said on Friday.
Sadiqullah Sediqi, spokesperson for the Badghis police, said the two were identified during a follow-up operation in the Panirk area and were arrested while digging at archaeological sites.
He added that their cases have been referred to judicial and legal authorities.
Badghis security officials, stressing the prevention of illegal excavations, urged the public to report any suspicious activity at archaeological sites to security forces.
