CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The “Esteqlal Cup” volleyball tournament in central Parwan province, featuring 13 teams, concluded with the Sayedkhel team crowned as champions.
Organized with financial support from the Parwan governor’s office and in cooperation with the Physical Education Directorate, the tournament brought together teams from across the province.
At the closing ceremony, Parwan Governor Mufti Mohammad Idris Anwari said, “Today is truly a day of joy, as the youth of this country are able to play sports in a safe and secure environment with enthusiasm.”
He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate remains committed to supporting youth in sports and education. Addressing the participants, Anwari added, “You should maintain unity, solidarity, and brotherhood according to Islamic law, and stand together bravely against any aggression.”
Abdul Zahir Khaliqyar Mujahid, Director of Physical Education and Sports in Parwan, said this is the third edition of such a large-scale tournament held with financial support from the governor’s office.
The competition, which began several weeks ago, featured teams from the provincial center and districts, culminating in a final match between Ghorband Star and Sayedkhel.
Sayedkhel defeated Ghorband Star 3-0 to claim the championship.
Mujahid added that the tournament aimed to enhance the volleyball skills of youth and promote the spirit of sportsmanship.
