Mother confesses to killing three children in Jawzjan

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A woman has confessed to killing her three children and injuring herself after receiving medical treatment in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Qari Abdul Sattar Halimi said preliminary investigations indicate that the mother killed her two sons and injured her young daughter, as she was suffering from psychological problems.

He said: “After treatment, the mother admitted that she strangled her two sons with a rope and then stabbed them to death. She also injured her daughter and wounded herself in an attempt to commit suicide.”

According to Halimi, the injured daughter later died in Balkh regional hospital. The mother has now been under the custody of security forces after treatment.

On November 30, Jawzjan police had announced that unidentified individuals killed two children and injured a girl and her mother in Khamab district.
