KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Martyrs and Disabilities (MoMD) says more than 183,000 people with disabilities are registered nationwide and receive monthly financial assistance and other support.
In a statement on the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities (December 3), the ministry said it has registered 183,092 individuals with disabilities across the country.
Registered beneficiaries receive regular monthly cash assistance through the banking system. Additional support—including extra cash, food and non-food items, wheelchairs, and other necessities—is provided as needed.
The ministry expressed respect for all persons with disabilities in Afghanistan, particularly those who have sacrificed parts of their bodies in the service of the nation and in pursuit of Afghanistan’s prosperity and independence.
The statement emphasized the ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving the lives of this valuable segment of society, noting that providing essential services and facilities for them remains a top priority.
