Uzbek players arrive in Kabul for Badminton tournament

KABUL (Pajhwok): Four badminton players from Uzbekistan have arrived in Kabul to participate in the Open Badminton Tournament, the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Training and Sports announced on Wednesday.

In a post on X, department head Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq wrote: “Afghanistan is hosting foreign teams! Four players from Uzbekistan have arrived in Kabul to take part in the ‘Open Badminton’ tournament.”

The athletes arrived in Kabul on Tuesday.

Wasiq added that the 2025 Afghanistan Open Badminton Tournament will begin on December 4 and continue until December 10, with athletes from Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Syria competing.

According to the department, the matches will be held in the Sports Administration’s 2,500-seat gymnasium.
