KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 25 people have been killed and more than 50 others injured after a fire broke out at a nightclub in Arpora, Goa, India, according to media reports on Sunday.
The blaze erupted around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, India TV reported.
Police initially suggested that the fire was triggered by a gas cylinder explosion inside the club. Officials stated that three victims died from burn injuries, while the remaining victims succumbed to severe suffocation as smoke rapidly filled the building.
However, the Director General of Goa Police later clarified that all gas cylinders were found intact during inspections.
Most of the victims were members of the club’s kitchen staff, though three to four tourists are believed to be among the deceased.
Authorities have sealed the nightclub, and police are questioning the owners and management while investigating potential safety violations.
