KABUL (Pajhwok): Two students were killed and nine others injured in a shooting at Brown University in the US state of Rhode Island, media reports said on Sunday.
According to Reuters, an armed individual opened fire on students while they were sitting examinations.
The suspect fled the scene, prompting a large-scale search by local police, assisted by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Authorities are searching university buildings and surrounding streets to locate the gunman.
Reuters reported that two students were killed in the attack, while nine others sustained injuries.
Brown University President Christina Paxson told reporters, “This is a day we never hoped would come, but it has.”
Brown University, located in the College Hill area of Rhode Island’s capital, comprises hundreds of buildings, including lecture halls, laboratories, and dormitories.
