KABUL (Pajhwok): The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) has welcomed a recent resolution issued by Afghan scholars, saying there is as no difference in the stance of religious scholars of the two countries.
Last week, a meeting was organised in Kabul under the guidance of the supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), attended by high-ranking officials and a large number of scholars.
The resolution issued at the meeting stated that defending the country was both a religious and national duty and if anyone violates Afghanistan’s territory, a “fard (obligatory) jihad” would be declared against them.
It also emphasised that no citizen of the country was permitted to indulge in militancy against other nations.
PUC Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi termed the resolution a “positive step in the right direction,” Dawn reported.
He urged the Afghan government to implement the declaration.
He said there was no difference between the stance of Afghan clerics and that of those belonging to Pakistan.
