KABUL (Pajhwok): An Afghan delegation, led by the Deputy Minister for Food and Drugs, has visited Iran to discuss capacity building for Afghan experts and to streamline the import of food and medicines into Afghanistan.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Deputy Minister Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid headed the delegation, which met on Tuesday with Iranian officials, including Deputy Minister of Health and Head of Iran’s Food and Drug Organisation, Dr Mehdi Pir Salehi, and his team.
The two sides held comprehensive discussions on strengthening regulatory and trade relations, sharing technical expertise, enhancing cooperation to improve regulatory systems, implementing the signed regulatory agreement, building the capacity of Afghan experts and facilitating the import process of food and medicines.
Earlier, a high-level Iranian delegation had visited Afghanistan’s Food and Drug Deputy Ministry to discuss bilateral cooperation and measures to ease the import of essential food and medical supplies into the country.
