KABUL (Pajhwok): A laboratory has been constructed and equipped with various advanced medical instruments, diagnostic materials, tables and chairs at a cost of 35 million afghanis at the Afghan International Islamic University (AIIU).
“The laboratory— established for the medical technology and microbiology departments of the Faculty of Medicine— has been inaugurated and also includes sub-sections for molecular biology, bacteriology, parasitology, mycology and immunology,” the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) said in a statement.
It said comprehensive tests, including PCR, culture, DNA instruction, AMR and ELISA, could be conducted at the facility.
Higher Education Minister Mawlawi Nida Mohammad Nadeem told the inaugural ceremony that the available equipment should be used properly, in a standard and effective manner.
He added that the activation of the laboratory would help expand technical and professional links with specialised and experienced doctors across the country, contributing to an improvement in the quality of education.
Without providing further details, the statement said MoHE this year set up and put into service numerous new laboratories at several state-run universities.
