HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): More than 22,000 tonnes of fresh fruit have been exported from western Herat province to various countries over the past nine months.
Mufti Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the exported fruits included apples, grapes, pears, apricots, plums and others, with a total value exceeding 16 million US dollars.
He said the development has raised farmers’ optimism regarding cultivation and agriculture.
Saeedi emphasised the provincial administration was striving to provide necessary facilities, improve infrastructure and support the agricultural sector to further increase exports in the future.
