China, Pakistan to strengthen trilateral dialogue for new outcomes

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and China have expressed their readiness to continue utilising the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral foreign ministers’ dialogue.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, visited China from 3 to 5 January 2026 at the official invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said.

In a statement, the ministry said: “The two sides agreed to maintain close communication and coordination on the Afghan issue, work with the international community to encourage the Afghan government to establish an inclusive political framework, adopt moderate policies, focus on development, promote good-neighbourliness and play a constructive role in helping Afghanistan achieve stable development and integrate into the international community.”

The statement added that both countries expressed their readiness to continue leveraging the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral dialogue, as well as the China-Bangladesh-Pakistan cooperation mechanism, to deliver new outcomes.
