Kabul football premier league concludes

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Kabul Football Premier League competitions have concluded, with the Ministry of Defence team winning the championship in the seniors’ category and the Muttahid Afghan team claiming the title in the youth division.

At the closing ceremony, Farid Ahmad Yousafzai, head of the Kabul Football Federation, said the Premier League matches had started about a month ago in Kabul and were contested by nine teams.

He added that in the seniors’ division, the Ministry of Defence team secured first place by earning the highest number of points, while the Sabawoon team finished second.

According to Yousafzai, the Youth Premier League was also held among nine teams, with the Muttahid Afghan team winning the championship and the Red Crescent team taking second place.

Yousafzai said that organising such leagues plays a positive role in the development of football and stressed that the federation is working to hold even more competitions in the future.

Mustafa, one of the participants in the competitions, told Pajhwok Afghan News that such leagues are crucial for the growth of football in the country.

He added that Afghanistan has significant footballing talent that should be nurtured and called on officials to organise more tournaments of this kind to help football continue to progress in the country.
