Saudi Arabia pledges to increase Hajj and Umrah quotas for Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has assured an Afghan delegation of an increase in Afghanistan’s quotas for Umrah and Hajj.

According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs, the General Director of Hajj, Umrah, and Pilgrimage Affairs, Maulvi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi, met with Dr. Abdul Fattah Mashat, Deputy Minister of International Cooperation at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in Mecca.

The statement said that during the meeting, discussions focused on increasing Afghanistan’s Hajj quota, raising the number of Umrah visas, providing additional facilities for pilgrims, and addressing various technical, administrative, and coordination matters related to Hajj and Umrah.

It added that the Saudi side promised to increase the number of Umrah visas for Afghanistan and assured full cooperation in this regard.

The ministry also noted that Saudi Arabia pledged future collaboration to raise Afghanistan’s Hajj quota.
