KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 71,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 171,000 others injured in Israeli attacks since the start of the war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.
According to Al Jazeera, between October 7, 2023, and January 6, 2026, at least 71,391 people lost their lives, while thousands more remain trapped under the rubble.
The report added that 171,279 people were injured during the same period.
Reports say a ceasefire in Gaza, brokered by the United States, came into effect on October 10, 2025. However, Palestinian sources say Israeli military operations have continued despite the truce.
Al Jazeera reported that since the last October ceasefire, 424 people have been killed and 1,199 others wounded in Gaza.
Meanwhile, on January 9, at least 14 Palestinians, including five children, were killed in the latest Israeli strikes.
