18 detained in Nangarhar for using Pakistani rupees

Jalalabad (Pajhwok): At least 18 individuals have been detained in Shinwar district of eastern Nangarhar province for using Pakistani rupees.

Under the enforced laws of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), the use of foreign currency—particularly Pakistani rupees—is strictly prohibited. No individual or business is allowed to conduct transactions in any currency other than sfghanis.

According to a police statement, the arrests followed reports of these individuals using Pakistani rupees in local markets instead of afghanis. Following investigations, the detainees will be handed over to judicial authorities.

The statement emphasized that measures to protect the national economy, safeguard the value of the Afghani, and enforce the law will continue, and those who violate these regulations will face legal consequences.
