KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces have arrested two individuals in Farza district of Kabul on charges of fraud, police said on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Kabul Police Headquarters, the suspects were detained by Farza district police for allegedly renting vehicles under the name of a company and then selling them.
The statement said the suspects deceived vehicle owners by claiming they represented a company and promising a monthly rental payment. After taking possession of the vehicles, they reportedly disappeared and sold them.
Police have so far recovered nearly 30 vehicles from the suspects and returned them to their rightful owners.
Police also released a video featuring Farza District Police Chief Mawlawi Iqbal Ahmad Intiqam. In the video, Mawlawi Intiqam said the arrests were made following complaints from several citizens. He confirmed that 30 vehicles had been recovered during the operation.
He explained that the suspects rented vehicles by promising owners a monthly payment of $300, but later vanished and sold the vehicles without the owners’ knowledge.
The video also includes confessions from the suspects, with one admitting that they rented the vehicles in the name of a company and subsequently sold them.
