KABUL(Pajhwok): At least six people were killed and 10 others injured in an explosion at a joint Chinese-Afghan restaurant in the Gulfroshi alley of Shahr-I-Naw, Kabul on Monday, police official said.
Kabul Police spokesman Khalid Zadran said that at around 3:00 p.m. an explosion occurred at the joint restaurant of Chinese Muslims and Afghans (Chinese Noodle) in the Gulforoshi Alley of Shahr-I-Naw.
In a post on X, Zadran said the restaurant was jointly run by a Chinese Muslim named Abdulmajid, his wife, and an Afghan named Abdul Jabber Mahmood.
According to him, Abdulmajid was a Muslim resident of China’s Xinjiang province. Food for Chinese Muslims was prepared and sold there.
He added that in today’s explosion, one Chinese citizen named Ayyub, who was Muslim, and six Afghans were killed, and several others were injured.
He said the explosion occurred near the kitchen; its type has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing.
A reliable source also told Pajhwok, without providing details, that “Chinese nationals were harmed” in the attack.
Meanwhile, Kabul Emergency Hospital said that after the explosion, 20 people were transferred to the hospital, of whom seven lost their lives.
