KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan National Under-19 team defeated tournament debutants Tanzania by nine wickets, topping Group D with three wins from three matches and securing qualification for the Super Six round of the ICC U19 World Cup 2026.
Tanzania U19s won the toss and elected to bat, a decision that proved costly as Afghanistan’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance.
Tanzania were bundled out for just 85 runs, with Nasratullah Nooristani leading the attack by claiming five wickets for nine runs in seven overs. He was well supported by Uzairullah Khan (2/9), Wahidullah Zadran (1/8) and Khatir Stanikzai (1/12).
In reply, Afghanistan chased down the modest target with ease, losing only one wicket. Faisal Khan anchored the innings with an unbeaten 55 off 34 balls, guiding his side to victory with more than 37 overs to spare.
For his outstanding bowling performance, Nasratullah Nooristani was named Player of the Match.
With three wins from three matches, Afghanistan finished at the top of Group D and advanced to the Super Six stage, where they will face teams A2 and A3. The schedule for the next round will be announced later.
