KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan traders, led by the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, have agreed to sign direct contracts with major pharmaceutical manufacturers in Bangladesh and to import medicines from the country to Afghanistan.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Minister Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid, accompanied by a delegation, visited two of Bangladesh’s largest and most prominent pharmaceutical companies — BEXIMCO Pharmaceuticals Ltd and RENATA PLC — in Dhaka.
The statement noted that these companies are among Bangladesh’s leading pharmaceutical producers, exporting their products to approximately 50 countries.
During the visit, Mawlawi Zahid invited Bangladeshi pharmaceutical investors to establish medicine production facilities in Afghanistan.
He emphasized that full security has been ensured nationwide, that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) supports industry and production, and that all necessary facilities for investment have been provided.
Meanwhile, Dr. Naimullah Ayoubi, Director General of the Regulation of Medicines and Health Products at the Ministry of Public Health, assured Bangladeshi manufacturers of comprehensive cooperation in accordance with existing ministry regulations.
The statement added that Afghan traders and Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies reached an agreement to sign direct contracts and import medicines from Bangladesh to Afghanistan.
