FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): All major roads in western Ghor province, including the Ghor–Kabul and Ghor–Herat highways, have been closed to traffic following heavy snowfall and a severe storm on Thursday.
Mawlawi Mohammad Hamas, Head of Information and Culture, told Pajhwok Afghan News that snowfall overnight blocked the Ghor–Kabul and Ghor–Herat routes, as well as roads linking district centres to the provincial capital, Ferozkoh.
He said snow-clearing teams from the Public Works Department, along with contracted companies, have been deployed to the affected routes and that efforts to reopen the roads are underway.
Mawlawi Hamas urged residents to avoid travelling until the roads are fully reopened and weather conditions improve.
Due to its mountainous terrain, Ghor province experiences road closures every winter, causing significant hardship for local residents.
