KABUL (Pajhwok): The European Union (EU) has announced that, as part of its 2026 humanitarian budget, it will allocate €126 million to support humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran.
According to an EU statement, the funding will provide emergency food, health services, support for vulnerable populations, and assistance to address the impacts of humanitarian crises in these countries.
The EU stressed that, despite a global decline in aid, it remains committed to helping people in need.
In addition, the EU announced the launch of the second phase of its women’s economic empowerment program, with a €10 million investment.
Implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the initiative is part of the EU’s ongoing efforts to support women’s livelihoods.
