KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces in central Kapisa province have intercepted a vehicle transporting weapons and narcotic substances from Pakistan into Afghanistan in Nijrab district and arrested two individuals in connection with the case.
According to a statement from the Kapisa Police, security forces on Thursday seized 19 pistols, 10 suppressors, 2,500 rounds of pistol ammunition, 500 rounds of so-called “poison” ammunition, and nearly 1,500 narcotic tablets from a Corolla vehicle in Nijrab district.
The statement said the two suspects, residents of Takhar province, were taken into custody and, in their initial confessions, admitted to transporting the shipment from Pakistan into Afghanistan.
It added that the fight against the smuggling of weapons and narcotics will continue with determination, stressing that such operations play a key role in maintaining security and preventing organized crime.
