Displaced families in Zaranj receive tents, clean water after Pajhwok report

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Following a Pajhwok Afghan News report on the poor living conditions of displaced and returning families in the “Terminal” area of Zaranj city, the capital of northwestern Nimroz, a charitable organization provided them not only with tents but also safe drinking water.

On 2 January 2026, Pajhwok Afghan News published a report titled “Shivering in Torn Tents: The Struggle of Displaced Families in Zaranj,” highlighting the situation in the Terminal area.

These families had complained about economic hardships, torn and damaged tents, and the harsh winter, calling on the government, institutions, and philanthropists for help.

Now, some of the displaced residents have expressed their gratitude for the Pajhwok report, noting that a charitable organization provided both tents and safe drinking water.

Hazrat Gul, a representative of the displaced families in the area, said that on 10 January, the international humanitarian and non-governmental organization Solidarités International distributed tents and supplied safe drinking water.

He added: “After you came, on 10 January, Solidarités International came and distributed tents for us and also brought water tankers.”

According to him, the organization’s officials have promised to continue their support in the future.

Hazrat Gul said: “We are very thankful to you for conveying our voice to institutions and the government.”

Meanwhile, Qazal Gul, a woman living under a tent with her children, said: “May God bless you for turning our torn and patched tent into a new one after your report was published.”

Sakina, another woman living under a tent, said: “Just by coming and reporting on our situation—seeing how we lived under thin, torn tarps—one week later, the government, along with an organization, came and provided us with tents. We thank you for raising our voice to the authorities.”

She added that now water tankers are distributed to them daily by institutions and the government.
