HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): About 215 children, deported from neighboring Iran to western Herat province, have been reunited with their families and provided with support services following registration and assessment, the Labour and Social Affairs Department said on Tuesday.
Hafiz Abu Muhammad Mansoor, Head of the department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that these children had crossed the border from Iran over the past month.
He added: “Our technical teams assessed these children and provided basic support services, including psychological counseling, first aid and coordination with relevant organizations to ensure shelter and family reunification.”
Mansoor also said that the department has offered free medical treatment to 43 sick, orphaned, impoverished, and vulnerable children through private clinics.
