KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 2,000 foreign nationals entered and exited Afghanistan through it crossings and airports last month, the National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, NSIA said 1,227 foreign citizens, including 43 women, entered the country and another 1,169 others, including 25 women, left the country during last month of the solar year.
The data showed that 1,218 individuals entered via land crossings and nine arrived by air. Among them, 118 visited Afghanistan to explore ancient and historical sites, while the remainder entered for work purposes.
The highest number of foreign arrivals (828) came through the Nimroz border crossing, followed by 303 individuals via the land ports and airports of western Herat province. Other visitors entered through Aqina port in Faryab province and Hairatan port in Balkh province.
NSIA noted that its Civil Registration and Foreign Nationals Registration Department was responsible for recording life events such as births, deaths, marriages and divorces, as well as registering the entry and exit of foreign nationals through official ports and airports, and providing services related to the acquisition or renunciation of Afghan citizenship.
