KABUL (Pajhwok): A Turkish firm has evinced keen interest in investing in electricity generation from water resources, turbine maintenance and repair, installation of modern high-capacity turbines and capacity building of technical staff in Afghanistan.
Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) Chief Executive Officer Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar met Günay Küsay, a responsible engineer of the Turkish electrical equipment company Marbeyaz, the power utility said in a statement.
It said the two sides discussed investment opportunities in hydropower, rehabilitation, upgrading and modernisation of equipmentand the installation of new power generation systems based on advanced technology.
While welcoming Günay Küsay, Hamkar assured him that all necessary facilities and incentives had been put in place to encourage investment in electricity and electrical equipment production sectors.
He added that all investors were able to invest in the relevant fields.
For his part, Günay Küsay said his company was keen to invest in electricity generation from water resources in Afghanistan, rehabilitation of existing power generation turbines, installation of new modern high-capacity turbines and enhancement of technical staff capacity.
The statement added that it was decided joint technical meetings would be held between the technical teams of DABS and the company, and that technical assessments would be conducted in the country’s provinces to evaluate electricity generation potential from existing water resources.
