KABUL (Pajhwok): The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved a plan aimed at preventing aid from reaching the Afghan government.
A spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) emphasized that the United States has not sent any funds to the IEA so far, and that the assistance is intended solely for international humanitarian organizations.
Reports indicate that the plan, recently approved by the committee, seeks to block the transfer of US financial aid to the IEA.
The committee’s chairman, Jim Risch, stated that more than 2,000 Americans were killed and over 20,000 others injured during the war in Afghanistan.
He described sending US taxpayer money to Afghanistan as “an insult to the victims of the war.”
At the same time, Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for the IEA, reiterated that the United States has not provided any financial aid to the Islamic Emirate and that the funds are being distributed in Afghanistan exclusively through international humanitarian organizations.
