HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar travelled to western Herat province on Sunday to hold an official meeting with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
The meeting will focus on strengthening economic, trade and transit cooperation between the two countries, Mohammad Yousaf Saeedi, spokesman for the Herat governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the discussions will cover progress on the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, increasing capacity at Torghundi port, developing transit facilities and expanding bilateral ties between Kabul and Ashgabat.
He added the officials will also confer on accelerating joint economic projects, enhancing regional cooperation, promoting trade and creating job opportunities in western Afghanistan.
A high-ranking Turkmen delegation, led by Rashid Meredov, arrived in the province on Saturday.
