Identical twins’ DNA match complicates French murder case

KABUL (Pajhwok): Identical twin brothers on trial for murder in France have complicated the case, as investigators are unable to determine which of them fired a weapon due to their identical DNA, a media report said on Monday.

The 33-year-old brothers, Samuel and Jeremy Way, are among five defendants standing trial near Paris over a double murder and several attempted killings in 2020, French newspaper Le Parisien reported.

Both men are suspected of involvement in the killings, but DNA recovered from an assault rifle used in one of the later attacks could belong to either twin.

A police officer told the court that forensic experts were unable to determine which brother had used the weapon.

Due to the suspects’ identical genetic profiles, the case has been described as one of the rarest criminal cases in France and remains unresolved.
