UAE provides 65 types of medicines to Jawzjan hospital

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated 65 types of medicines worth $150,000 to the 200-bed provincial hospital in northern Jawzjan province, aiming to address critical shortages of essential medical supplies.

Speaking on Monday during the handover ceremony, Governor Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi emphasized that the medicines must be distributed fairly and transparently for the treatment of patients.

He also urged provincial health officials to take greater care in properly storing the medicines in accordance with required standards to ensure their preservation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Afzal Azimi, director of the 200-bed provincial hospital, said the donation would significantly help reduce the current shortage of medicines at the facility.

“These medicines will play an important role in meeting patients’ basic treatment needs and improving the quality of healthcare services for visitors. We sincerely appreciate this humanitarian assistance and hope such support will continue in the future,” he said.

Wasim Sarwari, a representative of the UAE Embassy, said the assistance was provided to help meet patients’ primary medical needs.

He added that the UAE plans to continue its humanitarian support in the future and also cooperate with the people in providing access to safe drinking water.
