1 killed, another wounded in Nangarhar mine collapse

KABUL (Pajhwok): A man has been killed and another injured in a mine collapse in the eastern Nangarhar province, police said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the provincial police headquarters said the incident occurred  at a sapphire mine in the Mamand Tor Nawo area of Spin Ghar district on Tuesday.

It said two people were buried under debris and rocks, resulting in one fatality and one injury.

Security forces evacuated the injured to a nearby health centre for medical treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
