Afghanistan contact group meets tomorrow in Astana

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Special Representatives’ Contact Group for Afghanistan is set to meet tomorrow in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

The first regional contact group meeting was held in Kabul in February 2024, bringing together representatives of the Islamic Emirate, special envoys, and ambassadors from Afghanistan’s neighboring and regional countries.

According to reports, the upcoming meeting of the “Contact Group of Special Representatives of Countries Involved in the Afghanistan Issue” will focus on the current situation in Afghanistan and regional cooperation with Kabul.

Earlier, on 5 February, officials from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan met to discuss Afghanistan’s role in regional connectivity projects, particularly the implementation of the country’s national railway network.
