700 Afghan nationals rescued from severe weather at Taybad border

KABUL (Pajhwok): Seven hundred Afghan nationals stranded along the Taybad border following heavy rainfall and severe cold have been rescued by border forces in Iran’s Khorasan Razavi province, officials said.

According to Mehr News Agency, Sardar Majid Shoja said that border forces in Taybad, taking into account the adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall along the joint border between Afghanistan and Iran, employed advanced surveillance equipment and coordinated operations to rescue the 700 Afghan nationals.

He stated that the individuals, who had intended to enter Iran illegally, were at risk of freezing and possible death due to the harsh weather conditions.

Shoja added that, in addition to safeguarding the border, the forces utilised all available resources — particularly medical services — to assist the stranded individuals and prevent any loss of life.

He urged citizens of neighbouring countries to use official crossing points and enter Iran through legal channels, warning that violators would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
