QALA-E-NAW (Pajhwok): Nine people were killed and 35 others injured when a 404-model passenger bus overturned in western Badghis province on Sunday, officials said.
Police spokesperson Sadiqullah Sediqi said the accident occurred before noon in the Posht-i-Lama area along the Badghis-Herat highway. He attributed the crash to driver negligence.
Women and children were among the victims, though exact numbers were not provided.
The injured were taken to medical centers in Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital, and some are reported to be in critical condition.
Sediqi added that the bus, carrying 44 passengers, was traveling from Herat to Qala-e-Naw.
