KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 16 people, including eight women and children, have been killed in a collision between a bus and a truck in Yemen, media reports said on Wednesday.
The accident occurred in the Lahmar area of Al-Mahfad district along a key transit route linking the provinces of Abyan and Shabwa, authorities said on Tuesday.
The collision triggered a catastrophic fire that engulfed the bus, leaving no survivors among the passengers, according to Turkiye’s Anadolu News Agency.
Reuters, citing a statement from security officials, reported that the crash was caused by “improper overtaking” on a dangerous bend in the road.
Officials added that the bus’s use of gas as fuel led to an immediate blaze, resulting in all passengers being burned to death.
Tuesday’s crash was the second-deadliest traffic accident in Yemen in recent years and the deadliest recorded so far in 2026.
