KABUL (Pajhwok): Construction has commenced on the Wazir Qala and Khwaja Angoor canals in central Logar province, the Ministry of Energy and Water announced on Thursday.
The project, covering the Wazir Qala canal in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, and the Khwaja Angoor canal in Kharwar district, is being carried out at a cost of $382,586.
It is expected to be completed within six months and has already provided employment for several local residents.
Funded by the UNFAO and implemented under the supervision of the Logar River Sub-Basin Directorate, the project will irrigate around 1,269 hectares of agricultural land upon completion.
