Pezeshkian: Some countries offer mediation as Iran defends sovereignty

KABUL (Pajhwok): The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, says several countries have begun efforts to mediate between Iran, the United States and Israel.

In a post on his X, Pezeshkian wrote that Iran remains committed to lasting peace in the region but will not hesitate to defend the country’s sovereignty.

“Some countries have started efforts to mediate. Our response to them is clear: we are committed to sustainable peace in the region, but we will not hesitate in defending the dignity and authority of our country,” he said.

He added that those who had underestimated the Iranian people and ignited the conflict should be the primary focus of mediation efforts.

However, Pezeshkian did not name the countries involved in the mediation attempts.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said there would be no agreement with Iran.
