KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 33 people have been injured in an explosion at a nightclub in the coastal city of Trujillo in northern Peru, a media report said on Sunday.
The blast occurred in the early hours of Saturday, tearing through the nightclub, Al Jazeera reported.
According to Gerardo Florian Gomez, Executive Director of the Trujillo Health Network, at least five of the injured are in serious condition.
The circumstances surrounding the explosion remain under investigation. However, the incident occurred in a region that has been heavily affected by a rise in organised crime, which has become a growing concern in Peru.
Trujillo, one of the country’s most populous cities, is located about 500 kilometres (310 miles) north of the capital, Lima.
