KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Farid Basharat has been ranked 15th in the latest rankings of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The undefeated Afghan fighter has recorded 15 consecutive wins in his professional career, including six straight victories in UFC bouts.
In the same weight division, Merab Dvalishvili holds the top position, followed by Umar Nurmagomedov in second place and Sean O’Malley in third.
It is the first time an Afghan athlete has entered the top 15 fighters in the world’s largest mixed martial arts organisation.
In his most recent fight, Basharat defeated Brazilian fighter Jean Matsumoto after three rounds by judges’ decision.
Basharat has won all six of his UFC bouts so far.
