KABUL (Pajhwok): The Pakistan military regime has fired hundreds of mortar and artillery shells into four Afghan provinces over the past 24 hours, martyring three civilians, injuring as many others and displacing many families, an official said on Wednesday.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), wrote on X account that Pakistani forces launched attacks across multiple provinces during the past day.
He said a mortar shell struck Kot village in Dand Patan district of southeastern Paktia province on Tuesday night, martyring at least three civilians and wounding two others.
Fitrat added that in Shikin district of Paktia, 12 mortar shells and 14 DC artillery shells targeted residential areas and public facilities. Most shells landed on barren land, abandoned homes and areas near the district police headquarters, with no reported casualties.
Around 90 mortar and artillery shells were also fired at Barmal district of Paktika province, he said.
He added in Zazi Maidan district of southeastern Khost province, heavy weapons struck civilian homes, resulting in one injury and the displacement of numerous families.
Several villages in Kamdesh district of eastern Nuristan province were hit by mortar and artillery fire, forcing residents to leave their homes. Several houses were partially damaged and 20 livestock were killed, Fitrat concluded.
