KABUL (Pajhwok): About 4,126 carats of emeralds have been sold for more than 6,372,517 afghanis in central Panjshir province.
In a statement, the provincial media office said that these emeralds were extracted from various mines across Panjshir and sold through an official tender.
It added that the emerald extraction process in the province has improved significantly, and in the past month alone, 16 mining licenses have been issued.
According to the statement, alongside emerald mining, efforts to initiate and expand the extraction of other minerals, including lead, iron, ruby, and turquoise, are ongoing.
The Panjshir authorities emphasized that this process is carried out transparently and plays an important role in increasing revenue and developing the mining sector.
