Pakistan again violates ceasefire, fires 25 artillery shells into Kunar

KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan’s military regime violated the ceasefire once again , firing 25 artillery rounds into various areas of Nari district in eastern Kunar province, though no casualties were reported.

Farid Dehqan, spokesperson for the Kunar Police , said the shelling began at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and continued until 6:00 a.m

According to him, the artillery rounds struck the areas of Doklam, Barikot, and Tsongli in Nari district.

He added that no casualties or injuries were reported as a result of the shelling.

A day earlier, a reliable source told Pajhwok that Pakistani forces had opened fire on a Toyota-type vehicle in the Doklam Baghcha area of Nari district, killing a female doctor and injuring another.

The incident comes as Afghanistan and Pakistan had announced a ceasefire on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

IEA spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said a temporary suspension of the “Radd al-Zulm” defensive operations had been declared in observance of Eid and at the request of mediation by Islamic countries.

He added that the IEA appreciates the mediation and goodwill efforts of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, but emphasized that safeguarding Afghanistan’s national security, sovereignty, and the lives of its people remains both a national and religious duty.

He stressed that any threats would be met with an appropriate response.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account that, at the request of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, Pakistan would halt its attacks on Afghanistan during the days and nights of Eid.
